Abstract

Once the health crisis is over, we would like to give value to everyone's experience in this "atypical" regime of continuous agile work by identifying new ways of working, interacting and new tools for the future that can improve our working life and safeguard the achievement of business objectives.

Since each of us has lived this experience in a different way, we are launching this call for ideas open to all colleagues.

As is in the spirit of our Group, we always try to learn from what happens to us and we want to do it again this time.

Your contribution is precious!

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

If your proposal will be considered for the working model of the future, all Enel colleagues will be notified that you have contributed to build it.

Description

SCENARIO

Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, in order to guarantee the health and safety of all of us as well as the continuity and quality of service to the communities in which we operate, Enel has promptly adopted continuous smart working for the activities that allowed it.

By enhancing the technologies already available and adopting new ones, maximizing the use of laptops, tablets and smartphones, digital platforms, video calls and new ways of sharing documents, we were able to continue working from home.

We have all changed habits, reviewed the ways of interacting and managing activities; we have certainly learned new things and have performed our tasks differently.

Our CEO Francesco Starace stated: "Based on the experience accumulated in recent months, we will introduce some refinements to some processes and work procedures, to further increase the protection from the risk of contagion, and in some cases to make our activities easier (…) Throughout this period, the performance of our Group absorbed the impact of the pandemic, giving great proof of resilience; an outcome that is the result of discipline, flexibility, great dedication and focus on the work of each of us."

When travelling will be possible again, when we can be together, when we can meet with our external and internal stakeholders, we will treasure what we lived through, how we dealt with it and how we were able to carry out the activities in these months.

Let us imagine ourselves into that future and imagine how we would like our new way of working to be, paying attention particularly to the sustainability and quality of our experience (professional and otherwise).

CHALLENGE

Once the health crisis is over, how do you see the new way of working, considering the following:

  • All that was learned from the continuous agile work experience of this "atypical" period;
  • Enel's digital transformation and new technologies are enabling us to free up time and make our work more efficient.

What will be the new ways of working, interacting and what new tools for the future can we introduce to improve our working life by ensuring the achievement of business objectives? What new, acquired skills during this period of agile work will become part of our daily actions and what other skills will we need to reinforce based on our recent experience?

We launch this call for ideas open to all colleagues so that each of us can contribute to building a more sustainable “new”. We want to build the future through individual value made available to everyone. Your contribution is valuable!

The proposals may include the following TOPICS:

  • TOOLS AND SERVICES - new digital or otherwise tools that we should adopt or suggested improvements in the use of tools already available;
  • WORKING MODEL - new operating methods, new practices and enabling factors (including new skills acquired or to be enhanced) to help you work at full potential;
  • WORK AREAS - new ways of managing spaces and improving Enel people’s experience inside our buildings;
  • WELL BEING - proposals related to colleagues well-being, work-life balance, stress management, welfare;
  • PEOPLE ENGAGEMENT - proposals to stimulate colleagues’ motivation, fulfilment, commitment and sense of belonging;
  • CULTURAL SHIFT - new ways of promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing and communication by creating a climate of mutual trust;
  • LEADERSHIP MODEL - new ways of leveraging a new leadership style, based on individual responsibility and flexibility of Enel People and their Teams, whilst guaranteeing efficacy and efficiency;
  • OTHERS.

Furthermore, if you know of other companies that you believe have implemented laudable actions and that may represent a best practice, collect information (obviously if available, disclosable and non-confidential) and think about how them can be applied also in Enel.

Innovation is based on creativity, and creativity must have no limits and we trust that you have many ideas to share to make our future better.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proposals must be written in a clear manner so that they can be better assessed and also they must be reasonably implementable.

DELIVERABLES

Describe your idea clearly and simply by selecting the most appropriate category from the TOPIC field from the available proposal form. Each proposal should contain only ONE TOPIC; however, you have the possibility to upload various proposals if your idea covers multiple categories.

Your proposal must contain:

  • Description of the idea and specific features (for example the country of application, the scope, etc.)
  • Examples of technology application and reference sector, if any;
  • Advantages and weaknesses of the proposed idea compared to the current way of working;
  • Constraints for the adoption of the proposed solution;
  • If a problem may arise from implementing your proposal, describe it, possibly with practical examples;
  • Resources needed to implement it.

This call contributes to the achievement of different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has a particular impact on SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth.
