Challenges are technological requests outlining the description of a technological need to develop a new product, process or service and/or to improve an existing product, process or service.

SMEs/Startups are called to propose a technological solution based on advanced technologies (as per the definition of advanced technologies provided by the ATI project).

Selected SMEs will engage in an Open Innovation collaboration with the Big Corporation to implement the project to provide a proof-of-concept, prototype or minimum viable product, depending on the requirements of the Big Corporation, in a 6-months timeframe which can afterward lead to a longer collaboration between the companies.

Selected SMEs will have to involve at least one Technology Centre (as per the definition of Technology Centre provided in the ATI website) in the implementation of the 6-months project. The Technology Centre can contribute to the development of the solution or provide services, e.g. feasibility study; technology advice; testing; validation; prototyping; technology positioning and/or access to specialised infrastructure and equipment.
