Webinar #1: Exploring the social benefits of the circular economy

Webinar

The circular economy represents a variety of benefits for humans, wildlife and the planet. With the current economy based on a take-make-waste system, the transition from a linear to a circular economy is key to eliminating waste and pollution. By transforming design processes and introducing circular business models, we can build a resilient planet and economy.

Today’s global economy consumes over 100 billion tons of raw materials annually while 90 billion tons of waste is produced every year. By extending the life cycle of a product, the circular economy unlocks a broad spectrum of social benefits such as reducing our dependence on raw materials, creating jobs and saving consumers money as well as reducing emissions.

This unique webinar, “Exploring the social benefits of the circular economy” will explore the World Bank report Squaring the Circle: Policies from Europe’s Circular Economy Transition. The study examines the European Union’s experience in advancing the circularity agenda to elicit lessons that can benefit countries across the globe.

Together with Andrea Liverani, Lead Specialist in the Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy Global Practice of the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia Region, we will learn about the macroeconomic impacts of circular economy policies and how to respond to the surge in materials extraction and consumption.

Don't miss out on this inspiring conversation and immerse yourself in a naturally cleaner future for all.
