What are the deliverables for the first and second phases? Is there a specific format (PDF, etc.)? What is the minimum number of pages?
Are you open to ideas about other types of wind turbine (i.e., vertical axis, different sizes, etc.)?
How many proposals will be admitted in phase 2?
How recent is a “recent” graduate? Would a 2018 graduate be considered eligible?
If a group consisting of two people passes phase 1, can a third person be added in phase 2?
What types of company can take part in the Challenge (es. SRL, start-ups...)?
Can you share a document with current standards for the vertical tower?
Does the proposal need to be new (i.e., it has never been disclosed publicly)?
If a company has more than one solution, does it need to make more than one proposal?
What kind of codes or rules do you apply in terms of functionality (ASME, ANSI, electrical code, etc.)?
Can teams be composed of three people? If so, do you mean physical persons or could one element be a limited company, architectural/engineering firm, etc.?
Can we modify the composition of the blades, or their materials? Should our proposal focus only on the WTG’s structural and aesthetic aspects? And will you be providing drawings of the blades and the nacelle?
What kind of pictures should we use for the renderings? Do you have a photo database for locations you considered most important?
Will you be providing 3D and preliminary CAD models of a standard turbine, and its macro components (blades, nacelle and tower)?
Does the contest focus only on the design of the tower and the nacelle?
Should we try to solve the problem of birds flying into the blades?
What coating materials should we use? Are there any specific constraints or guidelines?
Which ICAO regulation should be considered as a minimum requirement?
Are there any budget limitations we should consider while developing our proposal? To what extent are we free to choose the materials? What is the average cost of a WTG (including blades, tower and generator) and what is the durability of the blades?
Are there any budget limitations we should consider when developing our proposal?
