Abstract

We are looking for innovative and sustainable solutions in the field of alternative materials to the conventional and non-circular ones (i.e. composites or cement), or those with higher carbon footprints (aluminum, steel, copper…), in such a way as to identify and enable our products with a greater circularity right from the design phase.

Moreover, we are looking for tools to improve the way we measure the circularity and carbon footprint of our products, making their sustainability and circularity more communicable to our stakeholders. This serves to promote understanding of the added value of sustainable products at a time when electric mobility and enabling products for charging are acquiring an increasingly predominant role on the market.

Description

Enel X Way is the Enel Group’s new Global Business Line fully dedicated to electric mobility that currently manages around 319,000 public and private charging points for electric vehicles (EVs) in Italy, the US, Spain and several other countries worldwide. As a global platform for e-Mobility, Enel X Way is focused on scaling up EV charging infrastructure to meet the needs of the rapidly growing electric mobility market, while developing advanced charging technologies and flexible solutions to improve customer experience and support the electrification of transport for consumers, businesses, cities, and public administrations.

Reuse and recycle are watchwords for the circular economy, the principles of which are at the heart of Enel X Way’s approach to doing business.

That is why Enel X Way decided to make its latest line of electric vehicle home-charging stations, the JuiceBox Pro and the JuiceBox Pro Cellular, out of recycled plastic. The results in terms of performance have compared positively with those obtained using virgin plastic.

Enel X Way is now looking for new innovative solutions to create an effective and credible metric (KPIs) for the market and for customers, in order to increase the perception of the value, in terms of circularity, of our charging infrastructure compared to others on the market.

The aim is to define some judgment criteria that make tangible the value of the circular economy behind every Enel X Way e-mobility product, focused not only on the use of recycled materials but also on other effective KPIs that can be discovered and easily communicated and understood by the mass market.
