Collaborating and investing in Social Enterprises can lead to reaching great results. Working with talents enables us to identify the most innovative and sustainable projects. Our commitment to four of the Social Development Goals as well as the company’s wide perimeter enables and motivates us to invest on social entrepreneurs that propose a diverse range of ideas focused on developing virtuous economic cycles starting from the lowest point to render the development of communities independent.
We recognize that to attract talent, Enel needs to be more than good corporate citizen is. We want to be part of the answer to society’s challenges. We wish to contribute to social innovation and a more inclusive economy, to embed purpose in the company’s culture and build impact into our core business. Engaging with social entrepreneurship offers opportunities to do all of this and represents potential business and investment opportunities.
Since Social enterprises work to drive transformative change for a more equitable society whilst at the same time meeting financial objectives, by helping them broaden their reach, deepen their impact and extend their growth, companies are also playing a role in improving society.
For large firms, there are in fact strong reasons to explore relationships with the rapidly growing social enterprise market. As consumers increasingly expect businesses to act in a socially responsible way, companies should evaluate their social impact and look to use ethical suppliers - both can be achieved through forging partnerships with social enterprises. Sharing needs and working together to identify the most effective solutions constitute the way forward in helping to build the common good. Our services and technological innovations respond to the needs of individuals, families, and businesses, improving daily life in their communities and in society at large. Innovation and sustainability are an achievement born of collaboration. We work jointly with multinational companies and local businesses that wish to play a central role in the global workplace and contribute their skills towards building a better future for everyone. Many social innovations, such as fair trade, microfinance and TeachFirst have developed as a result of social enterprise and we have a role in both investing in and scaling these social enterprises so that they can grow to an international level. Through collaboration, Enel can promote social ventures’ excellence in creating social innovation and new business models, and effectiveness at delivering at scale. These collaborations often help contribute to solving social and environmental problems or to help corporates build their reputation to attract customers and talent.
