Marina Lombardi

Head of Innovation, Enel Grids

Marina Lombardi is the Head of Innovation at Enel Grids and the Open Innovation Lead for Gridspertise. She leads a global team across Europe, South America and Israel in charge of scouting, ideation, proof of concept and handover of innovation for power grids. Her fields of innovation include safety and operational excellence, sustainable design of grid components and technologies, grid resilience, flexibility and new business opportunities, as well as IPR management.

Since the early stages of her career, she's been committed to more efficient and sustainable power grids, successfully implementing innovative projects on smart grids, Demand Response, e-mobility and smart cities globally. She has contributed to the enhancement of knowledge and awareness of innovative technologies and business models for power grids through several papers and publications.

At Enel, she played a key role in the development of innovative solutions such as the Network Digital Twin®, initiatives such as Grid Futurability and Flexibility Lab, and the creation of the company Gridspertise. At the World Economic Forum, she led the Grid Edge Transformation project.

She holds a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications Engineering, and graduated with an Executive Master in Technology and Innovation Management at the Bologna Business School, where she also serves as Co-president of the Alumni Association.
