Challenge Expiration Date: December 31, 2018
AbstractTechnology can make sure developing communities have a clean and secure water supply
DescriptionAccess to clean water and sanitation is essential to life and well-being. While it’s easy to take it for granted in developed countries, for millions of people in the world’s poorest countries, most of them children, it is a goal to strive for. Inadequate supply of clean water is at the root of malnutrition, diseases and lack of socio-economic development.
The trend is alarming: research and statistics show that incorrect management of resources could lead to having two-thirds of the world’s population living in water-stressed countries by 2025.
The UN has recognized access to clean and safe water as a universal right, and it is included in the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, meant to end poverty, reduce inequality and tackle climate change.
Enel is part of the UN Global Compact Board and is actively working to achieve 4 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals: we are focusing on access to energy and education, contributing to the socio-economic development of the communities in which the Group operates and to the fight against climate change, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
Water is a necessary key to build strong, safe and resilient communities: share with us your ideas that may help us achieve this goal, together.
Challenge rulesThis challenge takes place in a non-collaborative environment, meaning that the interaction regarding the submission is private, between ENEL and the proponent.
